Description
Many woodworking experts agree that a good workbench is the first and most important tool to install in your shop. Nothing is more important to woodworking productivity than a flat, stable and versatile work holding platform.
Some woodworkers take years and spend thousands of dollars to plan and build their “perfect bench”. Others prefer to buy one ready-made so they can focus their energies on actual woodworking projects. While the type of woodworking you do most often dictates the characteristics of the bench you should choose, most pros recommend the longest and heaviest bench that you can fit comfortably into your shop space. For those looking to buy vs. build and perhaps actually save time and money in the process, Sjöbergs of Sweden crafts some of the best benches in the world.
Elite Workbench Models
The
Sjöbergs Elite line of benches represents the ultimate in a professional woodworking workbench. Constructed of dense, clear European beech, these stout benches come equipped with two massive 29″-wide vises that open to 5-3/4″, won’t rack and can be configured for left- as well as right-handed use. A double row of round bench dog holes allows you to work from any combination of vise locations using the four unbreakable 1″ steel bench dogs that are included. The bench top is 23-5/8″ wide and 3-5/16″ thick, and wrapped by a 4-5/16″ skirt. Height is 35-1/2″.
The
Sjöbergs Elite 1500 is 59″ long and weighs 220 lb.
The
Sjöbergs Elite 2000 is 76″ long and weighs 275 lb. It’s 17″ longer and 55 lb heavier than the Elite 1500, but otherwise identical.
The
Sjöbergs Elite 2500C is a Combination of the Elite 2000 and theElite Clamping Platform. The Clamping Platform adds about 20″ to the length of the bench – making it about the same size as the (now-discontinued) Elite 2500 bench. It’s about 96″ long overall and weighs 312 lb.
Sjöbergs Elite Workbench Cabinet
The
Drawer Cabinet has a double-door cabinet and spacious drawers (6 drawers for the Elite 2500C & 2000; 3 drawers for the Elite 1500). The cabinet comes with an applied oil finish for protection.
