Description
Protect your property from the damaging effects of winter with the ReadyTrace 18 ft. Self-Regulating Heat Trace Cables (READYTRACE-018). This versatile heating cable is engineered to provide reliable freeze protection and de-icing for both residential and commercial buildings. Designed for easy installation, ReadyTrace automatically adapts its heat output to changing temperatures, ensuring energy efficiency and continuous safeguarding against ice formation on pipes, roofs, and drainage systems. Proudly made in the United States, this solution offers peace of mind through even the harshest winter conditions.
KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS:
- Dynamic Self-Regulation: The cable automatically adjusts its heat output based on the surrounding temperature, increasing power when ice or snow is present and decreasing it when conditions clear. This adaptive technology conserves energy and maintains efficiency, preventing overheating even when the cable overlaps.
- Ready for Installation: Comes pre-assembled with a lighted mechanical plug (NEMA 5-15) for quick and easy plug-and-play setup into a GFCI-protected circuit. Its flexible materials allow for an excellent bending radius, making it suitable for wrapping around complex shapes without special tools.
- Broad Application Range: Provides dependable freeze protection for small and medium-diameter pipes, prevents ice dams on roofs and in gutters, and can also be used for de-icing outdoor surfaces like walkways and stairs.
- Reliable Performance: Constructed with high-quality, proprietary compounding, extrusion, and cross-linking technology for continuous operation and extended life. It’s built to withstand repeated freeze-thaw cycles and harsh environmental conditions.
- Safety Certifications: ETL Certified to UL and CSA Safety Standards (UL 515-2015 Ed. 2, CSA C22.2#130:2016 Ed. 4), ensuring safe operation in ordinary (non-classified) areas. The lighted plug provides a visual indicator of operation.

HOW TO USE:
- Inspect the Cable: Before installation, uncoil the ReadyTrace cable and inspect it for any signs of damage.
- Identify Critical Areas: Determine the areas that require freeze protection, such as water pipes, drainpipes, roof edges, or gutters.
- Secure the Cable to Pipes: For pipe protection, run the cable along the length of the pipe. Secure it using heat trace tape (e.g., fiberglass tape) or mechanical fasteners every 12 inches, ensuring good contact with the pipe surface. For larger pipes, you may need to spiral wrap the cable or apply multiple runs.
- Install on Roofs/Gutters: For roof and gutter de-icing, route the cable along the roof edge and into gutters and downspouts. Use appropriate mechanical fasteners (e.g., roof clips) to secure the cable firmly, allowing for proper water drainage.
- Connect to Power: Plug the lighted mechanical plug into a GFCI-protected electrical outlet. If your circuit is not GFCI-protected, an inline GFCI accessory is recommended.
- Verify Operation: The lighted plug will illuminate when the cable is receiving power, indicating it is operational and ready to self-regulate based on ambient temperatures.
- Monitor (Optional): For enhanced control, consider using a compatible temperature controller (sold separately) to manage the heating process more precisely, though the self-regulating nature of the cable provides automatic protection.
