Description
Paring on a surface, whether for fitting, finishing or simply lifting glue squeeze-out, is a very different proposition from paring in from the edge of a piece. These hard-to-find cranked neck chisels make surface work not only possible but easy, comfortable and efficient.
The chisel necks are bent to raise the handles well above the plane of the blade, so your fingers and knuckles can work without fear of getting bashed or abraded. You can use these chisels for any ordinary paring jobs, and when needed you can press the back of the blade flat on a surface and use it exactly like a chisel plane for flush paring and finishing.
The blades are excellent – fine-grained, nicely tempered chrome-manganese steel (Rc 59) in slim cross section. They take and hold a beautiful edge without brittleness.Like most edge tools, they’ll need sharpening before use; and like most chisels, they’ll feel better and work better after you’ve gentled their long edges and flattened their backs.
The handles are stained and waxed hornbeam. Each chisel includes a plastic edge guard.
Paring chisels are for hand use only, not for use with mallets.
